Help Employees Feel Comfortable and Included

Diverse team of professionals collaborating in an inclusive workplace environment

As we head into the new year, it’s essential to take a moment and reflect on our individual and collective roles within our organizations. We all play an integral part in our organization’s health and success.
However, leaders play a poignant role in helping employees feel comfortable and a part of the organization. This can be done by evaluating how the organization meets employees’ basic needs. The following video discusses leveraging Mazlow’s Theory of Motivation in the workplace.

In addition, here are a few ways to effectively work with colleagues and employees while simultaneously maintaining a higher level of professionalism.

  1. Set clear expectations. Make sure you and your team know expectations regarding work performance and the code of conduct. This will help eliminate any confusion or miscommunication down the road.
  2. Maintain an open line of communication. Make sure you know what is going on with your team members so they can be more productive while they work! This will help build stronger relationships with your colleagues as well.
  3. Be positive and supportive. When things get tough, it is helpful to be there for your team members in a way that will make them feel supported and appreciated.
  4. Show appreciation. It’s easy to take our colleagues for granted; however, showing gratitude can go a long way toward building stronger relationships with your team members.

We hope the tips will strengthen the culture and relationships within your organization. Enjoy the rest of 2022, and let’s stay connected in 2023.
